Sunday, June 28th, marked the last day of the 2015 Training Trip as the 18u girls, 16u boys, 14u boys and 12u boys finished up a great week of training, participating in the Left Coast and East Tournaments. Prior to the weekend tournaments NWPC teams participated in co-training and scrimmaging with a mix of teams from Southern California.

Tuesday, the HS girls were down at La Habra playing league games while the 16u and 14u boys scrimmaged against Thousand Oaks HS and South Coast Aquatics. Wednesday marked a day off for all NWPC teams as the athletes made their way to Zuma beach. They enjoyed some amazing body surfing, frisbee and fun in the sun. Thursday NWPC got the opportunity to watch the USA Junior National Team play the Australian Junior National Team at Pomona-Pitzer College. After a brief tour of campus and a great game the 16u boys had afternoon training with South Coast Aquatics and Thousand Oaks HS. Meanwhile, the HS girls traveled to Tustin for a scrimmage against SOCAL and the 14u/12u boys matched up against East Water Polo Club down in Anaheim. Friday morning the 16u boys scrimmaged against Conqueror and Davis while the HS girls played against Conqueror. After their scrimmage games, the HS athletes made their way east to the University of Redlands where the teams got to practice at the Thompson Aquatic center, tour the campus, and learn a little about college water polo from Coach Tom.
Friday was the start of the Left Coast Tournament for the 12u boys who dropped their first game against OCWPC 6-11. Saturday the 12's went down early against Riverside and couldn't quite catch up, posting a 5-9 loss. Game three told a different story as a motivated 12u team dropped Huntington Beach 15-4. Sunday started off hot, as the 12's got another win against International 11-5 but things cooled off against Admiral as the boys lost a close 11-12 game in the final minute.
NWPC 16u boys started Left Coast tournament play against Big Valley 18u, falling 2-9. Against Trojan the boys fought hard but came up just short, 4-5, placing them against South Bay United. The 16's rallied to earn a win Saturday night, setting up match ups against OCWPC and SOCAL Sunday morning. Sunday saw the 16's go 1-1 as the squad dropped a close game to OCWPC 4-5, then rebound with a great 12-10 win over SOCAL.
The HS girls and 14u boys saw extended action at the East Tournament as both teams battled against local HS teams all weekend. The girls came away with some great wins over Troy, Sonora and La Habra on Saturday. Sunday the girls played Sonora and La Habra boys teams, acquitting themselves well against some bigger, faster competition. NWPC 14u boys had match ups against Sonora B, La Habra, Murrieta and Wilson. After a week of a training a much improved 14u team posted a 2-2 record against some older competition, ending the week on very positive note.
The 2015 edition of the training trip featured four tournaments, countless scrimmages and lots of in water and dry land training. Athletes were treated to tours of the Claremont Colleges, University of Redlands, Whittier College and California Lutheran University. NWPC also saw the USA Junior National Team in action vs. Australia while getting a day to body surf in Malibu at Zuma beach.
